I'm glad I snapped few photos on my phone of the house before the demolition began because the kitchen and living room are completely gutted. I wanted to give you a look at what the main floor which include: the kitchen, living room, the master bedroom, bathroom and extra small side room. Here are a few views of the kitchen. The first image is looking at the kitchen from the living area. The second and third are facing west. The windows along the kitchen and the side of the house overlook the deck and back yard below. (There is a daylight basement, so from the backyard the main level is actually the second floor). Do you see that beautiful door to the deck? It's enormous.
This is the view from the kitchen looking into the living area. I love the open concept and how the rooms flow into one another. We removed that stone wall divider and fireplace and pulled up all the carpet. That hallway in the back leads to the master bedroom on the left, a small side room on the right, and a bathroom straight back.
This view of the living room faces East...that beautiful enormous door is the front entrance. There are 4 massive doors in this house...I'm in love with the doors. Oh, can you see the blue masking tape on the floor? That is the outline to the original sunken living room--apparently that was fairly common in mid century modern homes back in the day. We have the option to 'sink' it again...we opted not to.
Our long term vision is to turn that entire back area down the hall into a master suite, but in the mean time it's gonna stay as is. Here's what it looks like.
Here are two views of the master bedroom; the first is the view from the entry way, the second is the back of the room looking at the closet. This house is covered in shiplapped wood walls...I actually kinda love the look. Andy wants to paint all the shiplap, and i want to keep it all natural...we'll see what happens. This is the small side room to the right of the hallway. Another massive door that looks into the front yard which is sectioned off. We plan to remove the structure outside and create a little zen garden.
I saved the best for last. Check out this sunken bathtub. Unfortunately, a bathroom remodel is not in the budget, so we're gonna have to live with this gem for awhile. Yikes.
The renovations have already started...so looking forward to sharing the updates with ya'll!

This is such a cool home. I cannot wait to see all of your renovation updates! And I've definitely never seen a sunken tub before. At least you'll get a little leg workout getting in and out, ha. ;)
