Designing the Nursery--Take 2

Designing the nursery has been a lot more difficult than I anticipated.  You can imagine my delight when Fisher Price contacted me about using their online nursery design tool called Room to Bloom.  Fisher Price paired up with Sherwin-Williams and created a user friendly resource to help plan elements of your nursery such as paint colors, designs, nursery items and more.
The room we chose for the nursery is a loft area above our bedroom and is currently my office/closet/guest room/storage area.  It is oddly shaped with weird angles and edges for the ceiling and a column directly in the center of the room.  A portion of it will remain my closet, (and my office until baby comes) but the rest of the area will be for our baby girl Parker.  The original paint color was a gross yellow.  I hemmed and hawed over what color to paint the walls and after much deliberation chose a really light gray and a few accent walls in dark gray.
When the paint dried, I hated it.  Fortunately, shortly after, was when Fisher Price contacted me about using their design tool which included a gift card for Sherwin-Williams paint.  SCORE!
Here are some very different (messy) angles of the room.  The wall that became my canvas was this plain gray wall.
Boring right?  Stay tuned for the transformation of Parker's nursery!

If you're designing a nursery, I would definitely check out the Room to Bloom nursery design tool.
How did you decide how to put together your nursery?

Ruthy! I feel your pain. We had a really bright yellow room that I wanted to repaint (I never liked the color and I read somewhere that the psychology behind the color yellow makes babies cry!!!) Who knows if that is true, but I wasn't taking any chances. I didn't want her room to be an explosion of pink (which it ended up being despite my best efforts), but we painted the walls a light blue to try and offset some of the pink. Good luck with the nursery!

  3. I actually really like the grey! But I love anything grey, so I'm probably biased. ;)

I don't mean to be a pessimist, but if the nursery is above your bedroom, that might be a major hassle, going up and down the stairs....
