A Scary Day
I failed to mention that our New Year's Eve could have been horrible...because it actually started out that way. On the morning of New Year's Eve our sweet little Augustus had a seizure. We didn't realize it was a seizure when it was happening; Gus's body kept slamming itself against the floor, he was yelping and his body was horribly contorted. It appeared he stopped breathing and Andy gave him doggie CPR...then he vomited, a lot, and out popped a whole macadamia nut. Ugh, I felt like a horrible dog owner, he had gotten into a box of dark chocolate covered macadamia nuts the night before (both are highly toxic to dogs). Fortunately he was himself just an hour later; tail wagging and hyper as usual. But ever since he's gotten the doggie royal treatment and has been spoiled rotten. I haven't really left his side since the incident. I love that pup.

Poor Gus :(
ReplyDeleteAnd nice blog header!!!
THank God everything was ok....a big hug to you and Augustus...and have a wonderful happy new year, blessings, Flavia
ReplyDeleteOh man. I'm SO glad to hear everything turned out okay. Eek. Poor Gus.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Poor Augustus. My old dog had epilepsy and so I remember how scary and awful those seizures were. Glad he's ok.
ReplyDeleteYou are NOT a horrible dog owner, stuff happens (my dog almost suffocated when his collar got twisted in his sisters mouth, I know you must feel). You must've been so scared-I'm so glad it all turned out ok! Augustus is lucky to have such great parents.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been so scary! I have to say, Jason and I both laughed so hard about Andy giving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a dog... but how worth it to have Gus be okay!
ReplyDeleteWe actually laughed about it just moments later...it was pretty darn funny.
ReplyDeleteTerrifying! How does one give doggie CPR? I'm genuinely curious.
ReplyDeleteHope your new year has only gone uphill after that episode!
oh man, how scary! i can totally relate, though. my dog has a skill for sniffing out three musketeer bars when we aren't looking. he ate an entire fun-sized one (foil INCLUDED) and was up all night sick. the next day, an exact replica of the bar, slightly slimy, appeared on our floor. glorious.
ReplyDeleteOh noooo! Poor poochie, glad he' s doing sooo much better. I am stopping by from SITS. I came across you blog and while I was reading your stuff on SITS, I saw you met your hubby on eHarmony. I did too. We married in 8 months of meeting as well. Glad I found your blog. Stop by and visit me when you get a chance. alwaysasoutherngirl.blogspot.com . I would love to have you for a visit.
